Food: Warning!

When people dine in certain place, they don't know what kind of food is working and even know what the food it should be. There are many things you need to be careful especially when it comes to taste. Not only the menu has to match what people likes, but the chef have to know the balance between elements in a dish. Today, I will show some of the worst combination that draw you into attention. If you eat something like this, you will understand why a cafe doesn't even know what is the right taste.

Partis Cafe & Dining open about 6 months and has been changing their menu recently. Before that, this cafe is only serve regular cafe food. After 3 months later, the menu has change to somewhat more towards dining . The menu include Snack, Salad, Sandwich, Main Course and Desert. The main course has different list from others like the Salmon grilled with mince black olives and Dory Fillet with Peas sauce are something unusual. Sandwich includes Panini with three different choices like Curry and Cheese. The deserts are all about Creme Brulee, Tiramisu and Dark Chocolate Cake and so on.

If you ever try Roasted Chicken and Capsicum with Rice Paper wrap, you will be surprise that it doesn't work at all. The dipping sauce is Thai sweet and spicy sauce. This snack is clearly a underdone dish. Capsicum and Roasted Chicken sounds like eating Mexican inspired dish. See, this is just how bad is the combination.

For me, it is all about tasting time. So, I started off with the Dory Fillet and Oat topping serve with Mash Potato and Peas Sauce. If you ask me about this dish, I would tell you that the Mash Potato and Fish is also a good combination. But, the Peas sauces doesn't seem to making thing different, it just add another element into it. Besides that, the oat alone is salty, it will make the dish match well. I would say this dish is just too many element added in, sound like a messy dish.

Another thing I would like to remind people is the deep fried. Although it is the most simplest thing to do, but it is difficult to master. It is not like French fries or just simply tempura, the batter must be even so that it would be nice to eat.  This is one of the example of deep fried too long and hard to eat. The batter is quite hard, it is not crispy. The chicken is done it well, just that the batter doesn't make it. So, is a bit of disappointment.

Despite all the weird combination and unprofessional handling recipes, I find that the desert didn't fail. This is the 4 desert serve with a coffee. The left hand side is the Whim Cream with Meringue and Strawberry sauce, then, Dark Chocolate Cake, Creme Brulee and Tiramisu. I have to say the Creme Brulee is really good., the Dark Chocolate is really good, the Tiramisu is really good and the Strawberry Sauce with Meringue. I think the desert is really impressive.

The menu is certainly deceiving than impressive. Some day, the menu has to be change because it is not suitable for people to eat as it  taste didn't done it well. Something is wrong with the menu. Only thing I  keep in the menu is the desert. This cafe is really need some expert to check their food. Seriously!

Food: Flavorful, tasty, and new ideas.

I have try a lots of cafe food in the past, but I think what attract me to come over to place is to really taste their house specialty. I would not say Carbonarra or Bolognese is a wrong choice, for me, it is all about different. Some cafe just offer traditional menu, while others is going to different direction. It is all sound good to me. But, you have to prepare for some surprise because I would like to introduce Plan B. It is a quite unusual to dine in a place where you find the setting is really like the cafe in Europe. I would say that this place is one of the good place to catch up with people. Plan B is in Bangsar Village I, it is next to the Starbuck.

The menu consist of few parts. This noticeable part will be the Breakfast & Brunch, Pasta, Salad, Sandwich & Burger. The pasta menu has the Mediterranean theme in it. You would see pesto, Bolognese, Carbonarra as regular pasta. They have the Asian Golden Soft Shell Crab pasta as one of the special thing to try. Then, the burger have some kind different thing like Duck Confit Burger, Ox Tongue Sandwich, Feta & Avocado Mash Sandwich are some of the new list to try. For Brunch menu, the Ben's Eggs is really special ones. Indeed, the menu has plenty of food to try.

In Europe, most of the cafe is only serve coffee. In fact, coffee is like one of things that people will do in Europe. To me, if a cafe doesn't have the taste, it doesn't sound like you are dining in a cafe. I would say the this coffee is pretty good. The smell is good and the taste is really smooth. It is always go to have a coffee in lunch.

The Crispy Duck Salad. The crispy duck is very simple to make. First, you need to pan-fried the duck with some butter and olive oil for 5 minutes, then, put it into the oven for about 1 hour. The watercress is very leafy taste and has the sweetness like sugar. The sauce is really make you a bit wonder because the orange juice is not from the normal Navel orange, they are using Mandarin orange. Somehow, the taste is a bit exotic.

This one of the simplest food on earth, Turkey Ham with Cheese Sandwich. It is very simple to do it. You need to put the ham and cheese in the between the breads. Then, you have to put into grill to let it cook until the cheese melts. Definitely, it is Turkey Ham will makes you want to eat more.

This one is the Ox Tongue Sandwich. I have to tell you, this is no the regular diet you will be expecting. Tongue has it unique flavor and texture. It is really nice to try tongue because it makes you feel special. After tasting this tongue, it tasted like the SPAM luncheon meat taste. If something that taste similar to process food, this is the one. There is something missing in this sandwich, a fresh tongue. It has been rough texture. I think this is really not impressive if you serve food that has the similar ingredients that use in SPAM luncheon meat.

Is there anything I don't like about this cafe? The lamb meat balls. If you haven't taste anything close to lamb meat balls, you will only thing that it is alright to try. Sadly, the lamb meat ball is too full and gamy. It is really bad tasting because it just makes you don't want to eat another bites. Anyway, this cafe is quite good for everyone who likes to adventure about food.

Food: Sang Kee Restaurant.

It is not easy to find this place for those golks who really wamy yo try some traditional food. It seems that this shop is about to close down because no one wants to carry on their business. I would say that this shop is not what ordinary teenager will like. The food here is really like the restaurant style. The menu has included noodles, pork,, prawn and fish. If you are thinking of trying something out, I would suggest noodles for most people to try. I would say this restaurant has been here during the 60's, and it is very old fashion decor. Judging by iys look, you will knoq that this place is not your average dining place. For me, it is all about the food and its taste.

When you are about to dine in this place, you will notice that the kitchen is open air. The environment here is quite decent, not a bad place to dine/ If it is a hot day, you will still feel the air is circulate. So, it is not a big deal to come over for food. Parking in city area is a big problems. There are two parking lot. One is facing at the back of Ocean Superstore, another one will be close to the Jalan Sultan. It is no wonder this place is only for those people who can find parking or just come here with a bus ride. This place is secluded. You need to stop at the bus stop near the church, then, follow the car park opposite the bus stop, you will see a restaurant.

I think people will wonder why is this shop open here? In fact, if you look closely, this place is not your ordinary restaurant. Let;s talk about some history about this restaurant. It seem that this place is a popular hang out place for dating couple. It has a cinema called Rex, which is gone after 15 years ago. Those days, people will eat street food near the Petaling street. It has some kind of good memory for those who come here for lunch  and dinner.

Sang Har Mee is one of the tasty treat. It is really simple to make. You need to deep fried the noodles for about 15 seconds, then drain it. The main part would be the prawn. It must be fresh to complete the whole dish. The sauce is make up of corn starch, chicken stock powder and eggs. The taste it is really balance, not to salty, and has the freshness taste come from the prawn.

This Cantonese Style Fried Mee Hon. It is done exactly the same way as the Sang Har Mee does. But, the only difference is the meat that put it into the noodles. The pork slice, prawns, sotong and choy sum.

Deep Fried Prawns with Salt and Pepper is one the Chinese food that blend in Western style. The deep fried prawns taste very fresh. I haven't come across a restaurant that offer fresh prawn these days. Anyway, the prawn is really taste good. However, after 15 minutes past, the batter start to go soggy. I won't say it is a failure, but it is just fine.

In this Wat Dan Hor, you will be eating some of the things you don't use to eat in your diet: pig's intestine. I like intestine, but must be clean. So far, this restaurant has done the right way.

According to the owner, this shop will gone soon because there is no one is interested to continue the business. For the younger generation, this shop will be gone forever. So, it is best to have some classic dishes like Sang Har Mee, Lo Siew Ping and Cantonese-style noodles. For me, it just a good place to dine.

Food: Noodles of the day.

I have a thought before I even call a fish head noodle, it say to me that some fish head is not fresh. If you think closely, some supplier is not giving you fresh fish. But, I just discovered that the shop here serve some fresh local fish. Homemade Fish Head is the only shop in Mid Valley that serve fish head noodle. Besides that, the menu offer snack, main dish, fried rice and fried noodles. I am here to try the Fish head noodles and the fish fillet with honey.

Apparenylu, the fish head noodles is a sell out during the lunch hour. The amount of the fresh fish is very limited, this is the only way to cut down losses. This fish head noodles has a very nice taste because their add in the salted vegetables and tomatoes into it. The soup is added with some milk to make it flavorful. Yje main focus here is whether the fish is fresh oe not. If you eat a fish has been in the refrigerator for some time, it would taste like the refrigerator taste. For me, this fish is really fresh because the belly is really taste fatty and tasty. It doesn't have the muddy taste at all. So, it is a good fish.

This dish is way to salty because it has the soy sauce, Worcester sauce, rice wine and dark soy sauce. It seems that this dish is call Fish Fillet with Honey. But, it failed to deliver. It taste very salty, way too much for others to eat it. This clearly a disaster. This dish is not hard to make. Deep fried the Fish Fillet, then, add the Honey with soy sauce, dark soy sauce into it. It is a very simple dish, but really taste so salty. Luckily, the Barley with Gingko is not that sweet, that is something that makes me happy.

I have some doubt about this shop as their famous thing is the fish head noodles. It is something I don't wish to say like the menu is quite attractive, some is only make you wonder about their direction in their food. If you happen to dine in a restaurant that says that their famous for its Chicken Rice or even good in some of their food, their might not good in preserving some of their menu. It is safe to eat only their famous food, not about other dish.

Food: Bistro food.

You might not seen bistro in the past decade, but you see it in the recent years. It seems that bistro is more distinctive that ordinary cafe. You would have a chance to catch up with your friend in a cozy environment with a modern setting. If you look closer to The Garden restaurant list, you will realize that the Yogi Tree is among the bistro in that place. The menu offer mix of different cuisine which makes this place different from others. From Chicken with Guacamole to Hainanese Chicken Rice, there is plenty to try. In fact, the menu is really diverse, not like an ordinary Western inspired bistro. This Bistro is located at the first floor near Isetan.

Today, I order a Guacamole Chicken Salad. In fact, the guacamole chicken salad is inspired by Mexico traditional dip. It is very simple to make, just add avocado, cilantro, tomatoes, lime and chillies to make it like a dip. The only different here in this salad is their put some vinegar into the it, which is a bit different from the Mexican version of Guacamole. Anyway, the chicken is porch in water with some sauce. So, it taste pleasant, quite fine to eat it. The chef doesn't mix the avocado with tomatoes, cilantro, lime and chilies, instead, left it as it original shape. So, it is not truly Mexican inspired, just a different version from the original taste.

The English big breakfast is pretty compact and tasty feast. Imagine, putting some of your favourite indulgence like bacon, mushroom, baked beans, porch eggs and two pieces of bread. It sound like a fantastic food to me. It is really simple food, nothing fancy and it is quite tasty. Remember, this bacon is beef bacon, it is not grizzly or fatty, so it is all healthy. The porch has been done nicely, it is a great breakfast.

The desert is not quite a tasty desett. If you think closely. poneapple cake sure be taste of fresh pineapple. But, here serve canned pineapple, so, it is not so good. Overall, the taste just don't have any sweet flavor like the fresh pineapple has. Indeed, it is not a recommended desert for others.

This Bistro is pretty fine to dine, not to say it is the best, just a simple bistro. The right big deal is the pricing is not your ordinary expectation. For the food like these, you would have to pay RM 50. So, it is not as you think. But, the food here is not really that fantastic because the flavor is somehow a little disappointment. Anyway, I won't say this place is totally not good to dine.

Food: Soong Kee Beef Ball Mee.

I find it quite true when you are having an old and traditional noodle will makes you feel great. A generous amount of topping on the noodles keeps people remember some of the old taste. Even the shop has speak about their taste in the town. Perhaps, a shop like this will never last or even go on to generation. I know that this shop will no longer there, but it just makes me want to try some more. In fact, shop like this is really hard to find because it has what it takes to become one of the oldest shop in town. Taste of the local and smell of the traditional, the shop has so much to say. I am here to taste some of the noodles that has its name. From the look of it, it doesn't sound interesting, but the food here will blow you up. I'm talking about Soong Kee Beef Ball Mee. It is located near the RHB bank and Bangunan Maybank in town.

This shop is air conditioned, so it is quite cozy compare to other shop in town. The service here is really fast, it just few minutes, you will get everything. The owner of the shop retired and past it on to his son to continue the business. It seem that the parking here is a problem. If you come here during morning like 11.00 p.m, you might wonder where to park. But, the good news is that the beef here is really fresh and tasty.

The beef balls noodles is one of a kind. I am not quite sure about other places, but this one has it reputation for beef balls. The taste of the beef ball is really incredible because their some of the spice that enhance the flavor. The important thing is the beef must be fresh and the balls must be have the bouncing texture. This beef ballss is really good because it has the bouncing feeling when the moment you chew. so it is good and done it in a right way.The minced beef topping is really good. The taste is salty, but has a unique flavor in it. That is what call a good beef ball noodle should be.

By most people, inner is consider to be one of the things you don't like. For me, it it is done it in a right way, it can be very good.  After tasted the inner, I realize the taste is really fresh. Indeed, this shop has done a good job to clean the inner.

Remember, this shop doesn't have the nice decor like other shop does. In fact, you will see normal tile setting only. It is not a big deal to walk into a shop that is old, just have to use to the old fashion design. Anyway, the food here is really good.

Coffee talks, which one has it all.

Have you are wonder where to have your coffee or tea during your tea time? I have to tell you that there are many option in Mid Valley. Perhaps, choice is one of the thing matter the most, but what is important is the taste of the coffee. It is worth your money to have a cup of good coffee for your day. For a coffee that really has the taste is often found in cafe. However, after tasting some local coffee, I finally realize that there are still some good local coffee in this Mid Valley. I just think that a coffee will makes your day fulfill. That is what makes life better. I am here to tell you some of coffee experience in this mall.

Toast box is one of the coffee shop that offer local coffee. The whole concept of this shop is to recreate the 60's style cafe with modern touch. Using the wood with darker tone to make it more classy and style. The coffee here is one of a kind because it smell aromatic, taste really good. It has a unique taste, sort of like toasted coffee bean taste. Usually, they will grind the coffee in the morning before they use them.

Another shop that offer coffee is the Warung. This place is a Malay concept coffee shop. This place is like going back to a lay back coffee shop. The coffee here doesn't have that kind of unique taste, it is just plain. Even it is thick coffee, but the taste is just flat. To me, it is a big disappointment.  No matter you how much you drink coffee, you have to drink a coffee that has a good finishing touch. That makes a good impression in a restaurant.

In one of the corner next to the CIMB bank, there is one
coffee shop called Nyonya Colour. The concept theme is like a
old coffee shop that revamped by modern interior design. What
brings me to this shop because I want to try their coffee. The
coffee here have the smell of the Ipoh coffee, but it taste doesn't
have the roasted flavor which make this drink lack of smoky
taste. If you taste it properly, you will notice that the coffee doesn't have any bitter flavor. Even if drink a little of the coffee, you will only taste the rich texture of the coffee. The taste is slightly light, it is not a strong coffee. Anyway, it is still a good coffee for those who doesn't like to have strong aromatic flavor.

If you know very  well about Mid Valley, there is another coffee shop just straight up after Nyonya Colour. My Toast is one of the coffee shop in the Garden. It has the same concept as Toast Box when it comes the design of the shop. After 4 years of opening, I still think that this shop still maintain the taste of a bitter coffee. The coffee itself has a very nice aroma and has a good taste too. This is just nice for the tea time.

San Terri coffee shop is the one of the coffee shop that provide quality coffee. If you ever taste anything from Italy, you will be surprise about their coffee is much more refine. No matter how coffee is, you need a coffee gives you good quality in taste and aroma. This shop never fail you because it has the same quality every time you drink it. The coffee machine is the key to make a good coffee.

There is one more Western cafe open just few months ago. This modern cafe serving lavazza coffee. The coffee here is not thick like what in those Malaysian coffee, but it has the balance between bitter and aroma. It is really good to have a coffee that it taste this great. Even in a day off from work, it is nothing better than having a cup of coffee with a cake.

There is one cafe that serve Segafredo coffee. This brand is originated from Italy. So, it is another Italian coffee in Mid Valley. The taste is always good and it is very nice to have it during your after meal. It has the smell of a good coffe does and the taste is not over power by the flavor of the coffee beans. So. the taste is really balance. In this place, The Yogi Tree is Bistro and Cafe kind of restaurant. It is good for people to really experience different kind of fining experience. It is totally brought by the bistro conce[t in Italy, Spain and France.

If you want to try some of the coffee in this mall. You need to really know which one is doing they best in their coffee. Toast box is one of the wise choice because it has the good flavor and toasty taste in a coffee, which makes it the must try coffee. When you get know about some of the coffee in other parts of the world, you will be surprise about their taste like the one in San Terri and Partis Cafe & Dining. Both coffee maintain the standard because they are using modern equipment to brew the coffee. So, it is wise to try these three. In fact, coffee machine makes the coffee brtter like the one in Yogi Tree. So, there are three Italian coffee and one local coffee is consider to be the best coffee.

Food: Nice dish.

It is fair enough to understand some of the restaurant survive while some don't. In fact, the restaurant that provide good service and food is one of the highly recommended place to go. It is better to try some food which is really represent the good food. I know that good food means to have a lots of money. Not quite yet, the environment we are dining is also important. If you think again, dining in a old-fashion restaurant, you might not enjoy it. A good condition speak a lots about the restaurant reputation and image.

It is quite realistic in these days to actually know the pricing of the food might affect your appetite. With knowledge from the expert, we can put your worries down to try. Even it is expensive, we are confident that this restaurant really deliver. I am here to try out some dishes with not inviting price. Anyway, I just want to test the quality of food and the service to ensure that none of you will be in any bad circumstances or fall into a bad reputation restaurant. Today, I try one of the Canton-i branch and I order 2 dish to try.

This one of the main dish in the menu. The name of this dish is Stir Fried Mushrooms, Roasted Pork and Garoupa. It look pretty good, but it taste even better. The method to cook this dish is simple. You need to deep fried the fish for 10 seconds, then drain it. Fry the mushroom and capsicum with garlic and onion. Then, prepare the sauce with some cornflour, soy sauce, dark soy sauce and some bean sauce. Put everything into the wok to cook for another 3 - 5 minutes before it serve. It is simple and delicious dish, easy to make, nothing will goes wrong with the method of cooking this dish. The fish is really tender and crisp, not like the fish is broken into pieces. The sauce is really good so as well as the mushroom and capsicum. The price of this dish is RM 32.

This dish is called Pig's neck meat with Eggplant. It is not hard to make this dish. If you buy some Pig's neck meat at the market and slice it thinly, you might able to get it right. The stand out for this dish is the eggplant. You need a lots of oil to fry the eggplant until it crisp and tender. Anyway, the taste is really good and texture wise, it is an outstanding dish. The price of this dish is RM 22.

The service here is good because the people are working as a group. If you want something, they will attend to you very quickly.  This is what I called a restaurant with good food and good service. Somehow, this restaurant really reflect on quality of food and service. I think I have try something expensive. So, you can trust on this restaurant.

Food: Contempoary Sushi Shop.

At some point, I think there are many sushi shop open in the past decade.  It is all good to have bento box for the diner. But, things is change when chef introduce more contemporary sushi roll. It reflects some of the Japanese cuisine has change its direction. From the start of the regular sushi bar like Sushi Zen, Sushi Zenmai, Sushi Tei, and Sushi King. Certainly, people might not interested in the menu of Sushi King because it is not quite attractive anymore. The menu fail because of many reason: It doesn't have any special rolls and the sushi is not different from the past. Now, the Sushi Zrnmai and Sushi Zrn are the most popular Sushi shop in Mid Valley because both share the same concept of making improvement on rolls, rice noodles, chicken menu. So, this is the main attractiion in these two shop. The Sushi Zenmai has some different menu from Sushi Zen. The sushi ,emu has blend with some new creation of sushi into it like the Toro belly and Slightly Grilled Slamon sushi are the highlight of Sushi Zenmai. Anyway, I just visit Sushi Zen for a try.

When I first walk towards the entrance of the shop, it makes me feel unpleasant. If you are dining with a place especially in a mall, it should maintain certain standard. This is one of the bad exmaple of the shop. I really find that this shop has to make a change for its chair before their turn off their customer.

The Soft Shell Crab maki us really a simple roll to make. You need to deep fried the soft shell crab with some tempura flour. Then, sliced it into hald and put it into the sticky rice. The taste of the rice with the soft shell crab is incredible. Indeed, ithe rice is the magic here.

Everywhere you go in Japan, you can't miss their classical raw fish fillet. It is important to taste the fatty and fresh fish without the fishy flavor. I  think that only bad thing will happen is the fish is totally not fresh or it is just in the refrigerator for sometime. So far, this Sushi shop is quite alright. I can'y expect that it is really fresh from the ocean, but I  really taste some freshness in it.

Deep fried things like tempura is always easy to done. But, if the prawn is not fresh, you will still end up chewing something is soft and easily tear apart. Fortunately, I feel good about this King Prawn Roll. It is done nicely and nothing short in flavour. So simple, yet is a one of the roll that makes you feel joy..

Japanese cuisine is about fresh and preserve it in a good manner. Food wise, this shop is done a good job to lift up the standard. So often in a shop that is not really cares about their food or even just don't bother about the customer needs. I think this Sushi shop is really good for people who like Japanese food. I mught say that it is totally a place that has everything in it.

Travel: Chinatown Food and History.

Chinatown or Shu Chong Gai is one of the popular destiny in Malaysia. This place is located at the Petaling Street which is close to an iconic hotel called Lok Ann Hotel. Chinatwon is one of the place that has all you need to know about the food and culture. One the things you must do is to taste some of the local food. The local food like Pork Noodles, Beef Noodles, Beef Balls Noodles, Seremban Baked Bun, Dry Wanton Noodles, BBQ Pork, Roast Pork and Pan Mee are some of the examples of food in the Chinatown. On top of that, you will experience the different coffee culture like one of the coffee shop near Jalan Tun H.S Lee, it is one of signature drink to try.

One of the reason that people come here is to know what makes this Chinatown special is the settlement of Chinese immigrant in Kuala Lumpur. During the time of 19 century, Chinese immigrant migrant from China though agents like Yap Ah Loy to work as miner. Besides that, the begin of Chinatown slowly take place as more people dealing with trading become the main source of income. The progress of the Chinatown become a trademark as it reflect on the Chinese who work there and they livelihood in that place. Those immigrants who migrant to Malaysia are Fu Chow, Teow Chew and Guang Dong. There is a mix of different dialect in a Malaysia.

For traveler, this is definitely a place to explore. The first place to go is the Kwan Ti Temple which located at the Jalan Tun H.S Lee. The temple has two fierce looking guardian who protect the temple from evil and in the front of the temple, there is two lion sitting there. When the moment you look up the hall of the temple, you will see a spiral incense.  The best time to visit this place is when Chinese New Year and the 15th days after Chinese New Year. What you will see is the people will gather that place to pray for good job, successful and of course have a good life. One of the tradition is to pray to one of the God to help you go though a difficult time. If you are born in certain Zodiac, you might experience some bad thing or worse ever difficulty, you have to pray. During the time of 15th of Chinese New Year, there will be people going round and round the temple and praying. This possession is continue for follower who really believe in Kwan Ti.

The second place to see is the Sri Mahamariamman Temple. It is a iconic place because it has been built for more than a century. It has a beautiful architecture at the front entrance. The masterpiece of art at the entrance is really reflect the Hindu religion in town. The art work has been repair and preserve by a trustee who manage the temple.

The Third place to go is Chinatown market. The Chinatown market has a lots of traditional food that you haven't taste in other parts of world. One of it is the Stuffed Fish Paste in Vegetables or Yong Tau Fu. The Yong Tau Fu stall has been selling more than 50 years. It has been one of the main dish in Chinese diet. Besides that, you will a stall selling Chee Cheong Fun. The name Chee Cheong Fun means pig's intestine noodles or simply means the rice sheet roll similar to pig's intestine.  This dish usually serve with chili sauce and sweet sauce. The Chili sauce is make of hot chili and the sweet sauce consist of fermented prawn paste.  There is also one stall selling Asam Laksa. Asam Laksa is one of the local dish that has the unique blend of sweet and sour. The sour is come from the Tamarind and the sweet is come from the fermented prawn paste. It is dish that gives you a boost in the morning because it is light and tasty.

The Fourth place is to visit the beef ball noodles shop near Jalan Tun H.S Lee. This place is located at the opposite of Lai Foong Coffee Shop.  This shop is called Sin Kao Yu. The reason why I introduce this place is because it has a history. This place have been carry on for decade and it is one of favorite noodles shop. Just imagine, Chinatown use to have a theater full of people, you will know the food here should be good, otherwise it will be long gone. The shop serve the fresh beef balls around the town. Lucky enough, it is air conditional. The beef balls mixed with some spices that create a distinctive flavor which enhance the freshness of the beef. Besides that, the soup is pack with fresh beef flavor. Indeed, this is also one of the iconic place to go.

The Fifth place to go is the Central Market. It is located at the opposite of Pasar Seni station. The main thing to try is the local coffee. If you haven't try one, you better try it now because local coffee has one kind of a smell. The aroma of the coffee is mainly come from the process of roasting it. It certainly don't have the taste of Italy coffee or even the Spanish coffee, but it has the flavor of roasted coffee. The main attraction there is the variety of local products. Some of the local product is from the East Malaysia. The place is used to be a wet market for people to get they food supply. It has change because of the inconvenient of the place to the public. So, it becomes a traveler place.

The Sixth Place to go is the Lai Foong Coffee Shop. One of the oldest and iconic shop in Kuala Lumpur. They have few hawker stall selling local delight such as Pork Noodles, Beef Noodles and Chicken Rice. This one of a kind experience because you will seldom stay in such a old coffee shop to drink the coffee and eat the food.

The Seventh place to go is the Sin Tze Ya Temple. It has a rich history and the place have a different atmosphere. Compare to Kwan Ti temple to this temple, this temple is a very small temple. This temple is building by the famous Yap Ah Loy. This temple is devoted to the death of  Kapitan Shin because his blood is white not red, it is consider as saint. Since the death of Kapitan Shin, the miner worship him as a saint.

The Eight Place to travel is the Seng Kee. This place is located at the back of Furama Hotel. At the back of Furama, there is one lane to the Chinese school. When you walk into the lane, walk straight, then you will discover this shop. This place offer some traditional food like Cantonese style noodles, is one the best dish in this restaurant. It is good to come here during the week day because weekend is really crowded. Sadly, this shop doesn't have third generation to take over the shop, it is about to gone in the history.

The Ninth Place is to visit the Chinatown. Chinatown is one of the place to experience the food culture in Malaysia. One of food you will probably heard of is the BBQ pork. It has the sweet taste from the soya sauce, sugar and oyster sauce. Another food you will want to try is the roast pork. The roast pork is not like the German or the Spanish roast pork. This roast pork is done by using the chimney to roast the entire pig. It often comes up crunchy skin and soft meat.  Another thing to try is the dry wanton noodles. One drink you have to try is the soya bean milk. This soya bean milk has been selling for decade. So, it has some history over there. When you walk to right of the street, you will see people selling curry puff and biscuit.  Then, you will saw someone grilling a thin slices of meat on a grill. It is one of the snack in the town. When you go at night, it is one of the different experience. There have stall selling bags, perfume and purse. Besides that, the local food like the Portuguese grill fish and Fried rice is one of the favorite.

The Tenth Place to go is to visit the Kuan Yin temple next to Monorail Maharajarela. If you going to this place during the full moon in Chinese calender, you can see the devotee sharing some food in there. This place is worth to seen as one of the temple in Kuala Lumpur.

When you come over to Kuala Lumpur, you have experience the food and the culture over here. It is unique because the Chinese here is not totally from a same state, but there are from either Kuang Dong , Fu Chow or  Chew Chow. There is a unique blend of they food and how they interpret the food in Malaysia. When you are sampling some the local food, you definitely know the food is from either Cantonese, Hokkien, Teow Chiew and Fujian. Besides that, you will witness the belief in Chinese god and goddess is one of the significant in Chinese settlement in Malaysia. Therefore, the food is unique and different to the Chinese from China.

Food: Chicken rice in Mid Valley.

If you are about to hungry, you might try one of the chicken rice shop in Mid Valley. But, you have to be prepare that the chicken rice shop is just fine to eat only. I have to admit that the chicken rice is expensive because the amount flesh their offer is far to less. In terms of taste, I guess there is one taste quite authentic than the other one.

Ipoh Chicken Rice Shop is located at the office block near the Indian restaurant. This shop selling their famous chicken rice in Mid Valley. I have try the chicken, it smell aromatic because of the sesame oil and soy sauce. The chicken is claim to be organic. I not really sure it is organic, but it taste pretty much like chicken from the village. Besides that, they have curry mee. The curry noodles is little bit sweet, the pork ball is quite alright. I guess, you will only try the chicken rice for sure.

The another chicken rice shop is located near S&J gift shop. This shop selling roast chicken and steam chicken. The texture of the chicken is not really that good because it wasn't like the village chicken. Indeed, it is not a place to eat traditional chicken rice.

Food: Sushi shop.

Comparing prices and the food, it is really tough to find a better Sushi shop in Mid Valley. If you try the food elsewhere like Sushi King for example, you don't really taste the best of Japanese sashimi. I have to say, only one shop that sell food at its lowest price compare to other sushi shop. One of the great thing about this shop is that it really deliver good quality of food. I'm pretty impress with a shop like that because money has been a issue for people who can't afford more than RM 50 or above.

The Sushi Zenmani is a decent place to go. It just located at the 3rd floor near Borders. Not to say it is the best dining experience, but it have something to offer to everyone. Honestly, the Sashimi taste really good. Fresh, not stinky or taste awful, it just taste really sweet and of course the texture is beautiful. The Tuna belly sashimi is a must try because it taste like chewing a mashmellow. Soft and tender, just melt in your mouth. Although the fish is imported from Japan. It really have that can taste that you can never imagine. It is mind blowing experience. Indeed, the sashimi is fresh.

For a Sushi shop like Zenmai, it is not about the classical dish like beef terriyaki that brings the ambient. It is the Sushi bell that speak for itself. I have try the expensive one like RM 4.80 for 2 piece and the Rm 6.00 categories. It is not too bad for a sushi shop in a Mall. That mean, it pass the critic criteria.

Personally, I not really into rice and noodles section. But, I have to tell you that the eels rice is really worth value for money. In terms of the price and the food, it is really worth.  The roll is something you have to try. The Stamina roll, the Dragon roll, the prawn roll and the soft shell crab roll, all taste good. I can tell you that, even the sushi shop is located in such a high end mall, you still can experience some good food.

Value of money, I still prefer Sushi Zanmai. In terms of quality, it is quite good. I must say, you have to think about your budget in Japanese food. Spending like RM 30 per person in Sushi Zanmai, is consider to be reasonable.

Food: Hawker food .

Hawker stall is one of the main attraction to local especially for those who want to eat something local and within the budget.. Although money is a big thing, but the food must be great to try. Even if you have a good place like in Mid Valley, Pavillion or KLCC, you still have to think that whether all these are really taste good. Comfort is one of the issue for hawker stall. If there is a place is really hot during the hot day, I guess you better go to a more cooling hawker center. I introduce you 2 hawker stall that is good to try, but not necessarily good condition. As long as the restaurant is not dirty, I guess is pretty alright.

If you have try some of the street food in Lot 10 basement, you would probably thinking that it is something special. Anyway, the roast duck is great. When you are about to try the Bak Kut Teh, it is time to reflect on the people who taking. So far, it taste good. How about something you often don't find in other hawker stall, Fried Hokkien noodles. Indeed, it is delicious to try. What else? I think is the Soong Kee beef ball noodles, it is something unusual as in hawker stall seldom serve this to people. Of course, the cow's internal organ is really good too.  The porridge and rice shop near the end is really good for people who wants more in their lunch. The Japanese noodles is just average, it taste quite alright. The pork meat ball porridge is not bad to try. It is something good too. Overall, this food court is pretty nice looking and comfortable. It is not a bad experience for anyone, it is just fine. I really fine that everything that you don't have in other food court is the food their serve. It is more like a tradition after tradition. Indeed, it is a unique food court.

If you didn't know the way to Bangsar food court, you better try the shop next to Alliance bank. There is one stall serve FoChiew balls. Pretty new to people, but it taste good. Soo Kee stall serve some restaurant noodles like Cantonese noodles. .The Soo Kee is really good. The taste and the sauce is really authentic. There is a stall selling Wantan. Chicken rice shop also there. There is one stall serve mince pork with Kuay Teow The mince pork is something you don't have in the city. It is pretty much a delight to try it out. This place is pretty cooling, I don't think you would feel discomfort. The food there is something special. How often you get a minced pork noodles in city area. This place is not hard to find in Google map. From Jalan Maarof to Jalan Ara Kiri, then find Alliance Bank. The shop is facing Jalan Cenderai.

These two hawker place is alright to dine. The environment is casual and it is just moderately place to go. There is not fancy thing about the Food Court in Lot 10 basement. It just new design. I must say that the food is quite authentic because it taste quite good. Not a bad experience and pretty decent.

Travel : Imbi Market

Indeed, this place is just a plain and simple shopping with Isetan departmental store. What is unusual is the food court. Before I introduce the food lets talk about the history of the place. Before this place ever started, it was just an ordinary market. When place becomes a commercial area, it just transform into a shopping mall. So, there is about 20 - 30 years ago. If you are not familiar with the area, lets have quick look.

From the start, let talk the way to good to Imbi market. If you haven't feed the unique open air cafe, I can tell you it is something unusual in town. This market have some kind of vibe for you to look forward. If you think of a fancy market, I don't think it is, but it has something that you looking for. Based on Google road map, this place is located at Jln Kampung and it also show Pasar Besar Bukit Bintang. If you travel by Monorail, you have to travel to Imbi station. Then follow the direction as guided by Google map.

Why I bring you to the market? Because this market have some special thing you could not find in the city. Most of the time, you will either going to the market to just get the things you want. But, in here, it is the coffee culture that have been there for quite sometimes. It is unusual to find a place where can have a big market and coffee shop in the same place.

The market offer variety of vegetables and some special Chinese ingredients. Some shop selling the classic thing like fermented pak choy and small shrimp, it is something you won't find in other place in town except in Petaling street. Beside that, you can have pork in the market. The most important thing must have in the market is the chicken.

The food is not fancy but it is cheaper. If you are thinking of fine dining in a restaurant, I don't it exist over here. For this reason, you would try something normal but is still local food. The food is just like street you found in Penang food court.

Lets talk a bit about the food there. There is one shop selling pig's intestine. This is something you wouldn't get in anywhere else within the city. For local noodles, there is one shop that sell curry noodles with pork. If you are thinking of pig delight, then try the pork noodles.

How about wantan noodles? It is just good to try. One thing that reminds me that this place is unique because it has crispy snack that seldom have in other place. It is fun to eat too. Looks like pan cake with a thinner version, it is also a must try.

Although this snack is good to try, but there is one shop always invite crowd to line up. This hawker sell Chee Cheong Fun. For those who think that it is just ordinary, wait until you taste it. For the Chee Cheong Fun, it is pretty smooth and silky. It something really nice to eat. Beside Chee Cheong Fun, this stall also sell Yong Tao Fu. I can only tell you that, the Yong Tao Fu is good. Definitely is a local delight if you like this kind of food.

When you are on your way to the otherside of the market, you will find a Malay shop at the corner. This shop selling some traditional chicken cook with curry and herb. The shop also selling some fried chicken and other dish as well. The rice and the chicken, it taste really good. It is worth to pack it for lunch.

If you are thinking of coming here, I think you better come at the morning like 7.00 a.m - 9.00 a.m. This place is really crowded. The food price is around RM 4 - RM 6.

Food: Chinese restaurant in Mid Valley.

If you have try this restaurant, you would probably think that this restaurant is not really that good. But, the dish is pretty much better than some of the Chinese restaurant in terms of Cantonese cuisine. However, if you compare dishes and choice selection, you will find that this restaurant doesn't have special dish that attract you. Thus, this restaurant offer some decent food that makes you fell comfortable.

When you first flip open the menu, you will be surprise that they are serving main dish, porridge, noodles, dim sum, desert and rice. The interesting part is to order something you don't usually cook, which is porridge. There are as up to 8 porridge to choose from. The one you could try is the pork balls porridge. I recommended you to try this one because you will seldom eat pork balls with porridge or even try a dish that has minced pork. After ordering a porridge, lets order a noodles.

There is one nice noddles is the pork soft bone noodles. It is the restaurant specials. If you ever try this one, you would not try other meat with noddles. Before we even introduce the main dish, I have to mention little bit about the noodles. About 10 years ago, noodles was suppose to keep it with some kind of agent to prevent from humidity. But, now the noodles has been freshly made because people know the way to produce noodles. That what makes the noodles special in this restaurant. It taste nice and of course the noodles have that kind of crunchiness in it.

The dim sum is really good. From the Prawn dumpling to Fish maw, it taste really good. I can tell you the dim sum is looks gorgeous and it taste is like a restaurant style. Definitely, you must try the dim sum. For the desert, it is simply delicious. I have try the Yam Bun with Salted Egg Paste and Double Boiled Fungus With Papaya. It is all good and tasty, and it taste the way it should be.

Pricing is really reasonable if you are trying something like this: RM 6 - RM 35. Per person, that would be RM 20 per head.

Food: Tasty Noodles.

Have you ever try this dish before? What I am about to tell you is the food in this place is really only for those who know it from either exploring the whole place near HSBC quarters in Kuala Lumpur. It is one of the excitement to try something like this because this dish is unique and difficult to find cook that can make such a nice dish.

Before we even start to mention about the location, lets talk about the food itself. This Sang Ha Mee is really tasty because it have some unique blend of the soy sauce and other sauces that make this dish a one-of-a-kind dish. The first thing you must ask is whether the prawn is fresh because the fresh prawn will give you a good taste in this dish.

When I first try this in near Hang Lekiu / Tun H.S. Lee. This shop is opposite Bangunan Maybank. There is a lane going inside to reach this shop. This shop only open during the lunch hours, so it is quite pack during the noon. The shop is really secluded because it is not on the main street. If you ever find this shop, you can see some of the people on that lane selling fruits. When you passed the gold shop on your right in Tun H.S.Lee road, you can turn right at the traffic light. After you going into the lane, turn left, the shop is the first from the left.

Lets talk about the food the Sang Ha Noodles in that shop. The specialty of this shop is the noodles. When it comes to Singpore fried noodles, Sang Ha noodles and Cantonese-style Vermicelli, all these dish is really classical yet hard to find in the city. The Sang Ha noodles is really a must try because you seldom deep fried the noodles. Besides that, you will never try to mix and match your own styles for the sauces. So, you are pretty much to prepare a deep fried noodles with a tasty sauce. This dish also added some ginger to enhance the flavor of the dish. The main focus here is the sauce for the Sang Ha noodles. If the sauce is way to salty, you should not try. So far, this restaurant is really good at their sauce.

The Singapore fried vermicelli is also one of the classic fried noodles that only have in this place. The vermicelli must not fried until dry, it must be soft and tasty. The taste must blend with the seafood altogether. Indeed, this is also a dish that you can experience here than any other place.

The Cantonese-style vermicelli is among the best recommended dish to try. Whenever you go to a restaurant, their seldom mention about their famous stir-fry noodles. But, in this shop, you are about to taste some of the best stir-fry noodles in the town. The taste is really food and the smell is just awesome.

For the Sang Ha noodles: RM 60. For the Cantonese-style noodles: RM 15.

Food: A good breakfast means a lot.

I hope that you will enjoy this one because I got to mention about the nicest food you can find around Bangsar Village I. This mall have a few nice dining experience you will never imagine. Although there are many Western restaurant around Bangsar such as Victoria Station in Jln. Damansara and Italian cuisine behind Victoria Station, there are some wonderful dining place near Bangsar itself. Today, I would like to talk about the place you can find it though Google map. This restaurant is inside the Bangsar Village I. The name of the cafe is Plan B.

Have you eaten your breakfast yet! If you don't, then try out some delicious breakfast item in the menu. You might think that this cafe serve regular stuff, but it is not. This cafe has some outstanding breakfast you never have it other places. The first choice is Ben. This breakfast item offer two eggs and one muffin. The muffin is cut into half to grill and meanwhile the egg is porches. You will have two egg just nice sitting on top of the muffin.

I never think that is something awful to eat when it comes to something unusual like ox tongue. Although I have a bad feeling about this, but I still brave enough to chew everything. It taste really good. The ox tongue burger is one of the most bizarre food yet it taste good.

Have you ever try something fusion and yet you will like it. I have to say, the food you are about to try is the spicy pasta. When it comes to pasta, often people find that restaurant always serve creamy pasta or bolognese sauce. Certainly, this restaurant have some unique twist in their pasta menu. Spicy pasta with soft shell crab is one of the pasta that taste good even it is a fusion dish. I mean fusion because it has some element of Japanese in it.

Beside having a good main course, you better save your stomach for a try in their salad menu. The duck comfit with orange and watercress salad is absolutely a must try. You seldom find this restaurant dish in a place like this, and it taste fantastic. I guess salad also can be consider as one of the popular item in this restaurant.

The pasta, salad, burger and breakfast are among the top choices in this restaurant. The budget for a lunch or dinner is about RM 30 per person. Although is not cheap at all, but I have to tell you that this restaurant is stunning.

Food in Food Court.

I guess you are thinking, why am I talking about food in Food Court since most of the food are not really fantastic. I got to tell you about the food in food court can be 'good' if you are uncertain about the food in restaurants. I choose the food court in Mid Valley as for today post because this mall really have some diverse stalls in 4 food court. You can try out the food there, but you must know some facts before you go.

The first food court is located at the North Court 3rd floor. It has the most diverse food in the food court such as Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Korean and Malay food. When you are about to get hungry, you must be thinking that none of the restaurant are really recommended to go. Therefore, you are not sure where to go. To be honest, the food in this food court is pretty average, it is cater for people who didn't want to try out some delicious food in the mall.

The Indian food is pretty much alright for a price of two dishes and rice. To be honest, I haven't try the sizzling pan noodles because it must have the taste of both light and dark soy sauce, but I know it is also a pretty average dish to eat. The chicken rice, I find that is not close to the one I haven't eaten in traditional chicken rice shop. For the Japanese, I can tell you it is not authentic because it doesn't have the taste of a Ramen has.
For the Korean dish, I can tell you is pretty much average compare to authentic Korean food, but you can still try it out because it wasn't taste bad. Overall, this food court is pretty clean and organize.

The second food court is located at the Lower Ground. You have take the elevator down to Lower Ground and keep left until you reach the Donut and Thai restaurant. This is surely not about quality of food, is all about quantity. There are few stall selling dishes and rice, looks like a food court with limited choice. Most of the stalls sell Malay dishes, but one sell chicken rice. I have to tell you, the food you eat in this food stalls is quite average, pretty similar to the one you eat in elsewhere. Nothing really special.

The Third food court is located at the 2nd floor next Machines. Take the elevator up to 2nd floor and go to the left. This food court doesn't have a lots of crowd going there and few stalls have gone in this place. The food here has Indian, Malay and Chinese food. The only thing you can try is the Portuguese fish. It is really spicy and nice.

The Fourth food court is located next to the Borders. Take a walk to the Garden, go to the right and take elevator to the third floor. This food court some different thing. This food court serve some Korean food. Although is not quite authentic, but you can really try it out. There is a Kebab shop in the front, you can probably taste some nice kebab here too. When it comes to Indian food like roti, I guess Mamak store can do better than them. When it comes to Chinese noodles and soup, you better take your time to try something good in the Garden.

Overall, the food court in Garden and food court on the third floor of Mid Valley is pretty fine for dining. But, for those who are thinking about other restaurant, I will make a guide for that.

Food: Beef Ball Noodles.

Have you ever try a nice and juicy beef ball noodles? I have to tell you about the best beef balls noodles is in the city. There are actually two, but I got to show you the one that has three generation history. This shop is located at the Tun H.S Lee.After past the Indian temple and the Guan Di temple, walk straight towards the end of the street, then turn right. The shop name is called Sin Kao Yu. Opposite Lai Fong coffee shop and it is opposite row from Central Market.

This shop already open far long time. From black and white photo to now, it is like over 50 years. This shop is air conditioner, so you don't have to worry about the humidity. When you first go into the shop, the first thing you will notice that the stalls is like normal hawker stall with a shop. There is no surprise because this shop will open in the night.

Beef balls is really delicious to eat because it have some unique freshness flavor and the taste is just really exceptional. When I first try the beef ball in this shop, the taste is sweet and it has the freshness taste that you couldn't find in elsewhere. Definitely, the beef balls also have some secret ingredient into it. I know this is the reason you would like this shop.

The noodles topped with minced beef is guaranteed tasty. If you haven't try this out, you will never know that the taste is really balance between sweet and saltiness. It is just perfect with the minced beef on top of the noodles. This combination is really unique because of the well blend of the minced beef with dark and light soy sauce. So, you will taste a total best out of the noodles and the minced beef.

The soup is really taste better than beef in steamboat. The ingredient in the soup is just purely the beef ball. You will taste every spoonful of the fresh beef taste in your mouth. This is a must try for people who seldom go to Petaling Street.

Another shop I will like to recommend you to go is the Song Kee. From Petaling Street in Chinatown, you walk to the first traffic light ( S & M shopping mall, left is Gong Woh Tong, right is Nandos ), then walk to another traffic light. After 2nd traffic light, you have to walk across the road, and the shop is on your right. This shop is the ground floor of Bangunan Maybank.

Although both Song Kee and Sin Kao Yu serve some very delicious beef balls, but there are some different in terms of their noodles. One of the big different is the noodles in Song Kee. The shop serve some really nice wanton noodles in town. It taste matches very well with the minced beef. The minced beef in this shop have some unique blend of soy sauce and other ingredients. So, this is also a must try for those who haven't eat any beef ball noodles in their life.

In terms of noodles and minced beef, I think Song Kee is the best because of the well balance between the minced beef and the noodles. The soup and the beef ball is really nice and fresh. I have tell you, this shop is the star, you must try this one before you try SIn Kao Yu.

Food: OUG garden.

If you think that there is not enough of good food, probably you didn't know the place. Today, I just good to one of the coffee shop to try out some nice Fsh Porridge and Fried Kuai Teow. I would say is one of the best thing you ever have in this garden. If you are working and thinking about food to eat or simply want to have a lunch, this place is definitely good for those who love to eat and try tasty food. There few stalls offer some good food. So, I would introduce you some nice lunch meal.

When you are about to turn left after you past by the OUG plaza, you can keep in the right lane before you turn right near the traffic light. After turn in, you have keep at the left lane and wait to turn left at the traffic light. I guess this simple instruction will be handy for you.

If you are thinking about a nice porridge, you will definitely got to love this one because this stalls really serve fresh fish daily, so you wouldn't disappointed about the Fish porridge. This stall is located at the right end after the turning into the garden. When you first order, you must ask for the type of fish he have in the cooler.  At the same coffer shop, there is one Fried Kuai Teow stall. This stall serve some delicious stir-fry Kuai Teow, that seldom have in town. It is really nice to try.

The pork noodles stall located at the left row one of the coffee shop next to a lane. It has some really good taste in the soup. No the sweet taste you find inside the sugar, but it has some good soup. The pork noodles is one of the best because it really taste nice and good. The smell comes from the soup is really nice.

Lam Mee stalls is just the first coffee shop on your right. The Lam Mee is really nice and thick, but it didn't over flavor the soup. The soup is really thick, and it has the taste of both light and dark soy sauce in it. Even you try to describe the taste, but you never really know what is in it.

When you are about to go, you better try some Rojak near the junction on your left. This Rojak stall is really traditional Rojak. Is really a must try because it have the nice gravy and the crispy stuff that put into it make it taste better.
